web-based Environmental Data Management System

Expedites Cleanup and Closure of Contaminated Sites

Overview of the webEDMS

The webEDMS encompasses all Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Study (RI/FS) processes in the cleanup and restoration of hazardous waste impacted sites. It is a cradle to-grave project data informatics and analytics tool that enhances sharing and communication of site information, streamlines RI/FS activities, increases project productivity and leads to cheaper, quicker and safer site cleanup and closure.

webEDMS Nurtures Rapport and Trust among Stakeholders

  • It traces every bit of site data and seamlessly converts islands of project Data to Information, to Knowledge, to Solution on the fly.
  • It makes the entire RI/FS activities transparent, decision making process risk-based and accountable, and earns stakeholders' trust and comfort after solving issues together.
  • All leads to expedited site cleanup and closure

Specifically, the webEDMS is a GIS-driven six dimensional data management system (X, Y, Z spatial coordinates; time; contaminant species; and contaminant concentration). By moving computer mouse on a site map and selecting any one or combination of these 6 “indices”, the user can analyze site contamination spatially and temporarily. For example, webEDMS can instantly:

  • allow the user to query entire site conditions using any of the six search criteria
  • display site environmental data in 2D charts and tables
  • produce 3D graphs based on user-defined search criteria
  • further dissect the 3D graphs with a wide range of queries
  • calculate carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks based on past, current or future site conditions with user-defined exposure pathways

Other major real-time functions of webEDMS include what-if scenario analysis, remedial technology screening and cost estimation that empowers the user:

  • develop an acceptable site End State
  • identify impediments to site closure
  • allow widely scattered project staffs and decision makers to query, analyze and view project data together in order quickly to reach consensus on the optimal path forward
  • compare the pros and cons of alternative scenarios
  • determine the effectiveness of the alternative remedial technologies
  • develop the best closure approach and
  • assess the acceptability of that approach by the regulatory agency

all before expensive field operations begin.

Time after time, our technical expertise and experience combined with powerful webEDMS applications has led to measurable benefits to clients: streamlined RI/FS operations, quicker approval of site closure, and significant time and cost savings.
