IES was brought in by ICF Consulting to help them manage the investigation and cleanup of the Naval Petroleum Reserves 1 and 2 owned by the Department of Energy (DOE). NPR-1 and NPR-2 are located in central California, covering more than 80,000 acre of land. Their data consisted of more than four decades of oil production and environmental cleanup. The former Golden Eagle Refining site located next to the city of Los Angles in California, U.S.A. was the first California state Superfund project that successfully converted a hazardous impacted site into a revenue generated asset. IES assisted CET in managing the cleanup of a 7-alarm chemical warehouse fire in the Houston ship channel area. The fires completely destroyed more than 35,000 square feet of warehouses and left behind more than 1,000 partial or total damaged 55-gallon drums without labels.
