Dear Michael
On the eve of submitting the revised Remedial Action Workplan to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, I would like to take this opportunity to express both my personal appreciation and that of The Pittston Company for the pivotal contributions you and your staff have made to ensure the success of the Liberty National Development Project in Jersey City, New Jersey.
For the past five years, I have seen how you and your staff have brought technical expertise, experience, stability, and value to the project. Your ability to transform this complicated project - once best known for the competing interests of its stockholders and multitude of regulatory jurisdictions - into a well coordinated, orchestrated team is indeed remarkable and deserves tremendous commendation. You have produced outstanding accomplishments under the extreme pressures of schedule and technical challenges. The fact that the Partners have appointed you their technical consultant is itself testimony to the trust and respect they have placed in your technical abilities and excellence.
In reminiscence, it was you and the Integrated team that applied broad knowledge and experience in environmental regulations, remedial technologies, project management and business operations to transform a stalled remedial program into an exciting and promising project. Your expertise in hazardous waste management, efficient and thorough approach to issues, and attention to detail have been instrumental in the progress of the project. It is amazing and impressive to see that the site condition analysis and corresponding recommendations you made five years ago are not only still applicable but also being played out like a script even to this date. It is because of your foresight that we are able anticipate and address challenges, smooth operational glitches, eliminate redundancy, and promote project productivity and efficiency.
The Partners and I are very fortunate to have you on our side. You are a tremendous asset to the project.
In closing, I want to thank you for your personal coordination and communication with me. It has been a joy to work with you on this important and challenging project. The success of the project and quality of the work is a credit to your organization.
Sincerely,
Christopher P. Meyering
